L-3 Electronic System Services Focuses on Aftermarket Excellence

TORONTO, Ontario, May 29, 2012 – L-3 Electronic Systems announced today that it has been renamed L-3 Electronic System Services (L-3 ESS) to better align with its new business focus on aftermarket services for the aerospace and defence marketplace. L-3 ESS is committed to providing global commercial and military customers with world-class avionics and component maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO); ground support equipment; and integrated and performance-based logistics services.

“There has never been a better time to introduce our new business focus,” said Trevor Ratcliffe, president of L-3 ESS. “It shows our customers where L-3 ESS stands today, as well as where we’re heading in the aerospace and defence industry. As part of L-3’s Aviation Products business sector, we offer an extensive set of aftermarket services for OEM and third-party aviation products. We want our current and future customers to know that they can depend on us for increased availability, dependability and capability of their assets.”

L-3 ESS’s Toronto and Ft. Lauderdale locations will maintain, repair and overhaul a variety of complex avionics, such as inertial navigation systems, radars, cockpit displays and other mission-critical equipment for both commercial and military applications. Its centre of excellence in Halifax will continue to provide in-service support, integrated logistics support, logistics management, supply chain management and technical services for air, naval and land platforms. L-3 ESS’s Component Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (CMRO) facility will continue to offer hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical components, as well as instrumentation MRO. L-3 ESS also designs and manufactures ground support equipment, such as aircraft hydraulic test stands, ground power units, portable generator sets and breathing air compressors.

L-3 ESS is part of L-3’s Aviation Products (AP) business sector. L-3 AP manufactures a diverse line of safety-enhancing products and avionics equipment that sets the standard for next-generation requirements, including configurable voice and data recorders, collision avoidance systems, navigation products, display systems and processors.
